The Stanton City Council on Tuesday night voted to move ahead with two major construction projects in the Civic Center.

Accepted was a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to upgrade the facility in the civic center at 11100 Cedar St.

The structure dates back to when Stanton had its own police station. Police services are now supplied by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Work included will be a new sewer line connection, interior walls and flooring restoration, ceiling tiles restoration, entrance door replacement, patio pergola removal, interior and exterior painting, restrooms renovation and roof replacement.

Also on the agenda is approval of a construction contract worth $12,898,397 to Act 1 Construction for the Norm Ross Sports Park improvement project located north of the Civic Center and close to Beach Boulevard.
