Complications in the struggle to end the leak of toxic gas from a plastic manufacturing plant in West Garden Grove on Thursday emerged on Friday and led to a resumption of evacuation orders.
No injuries have been reported.
The area affected included some parts of Stanton as well.
According to the Orange County Fire Authority,Thursday’s cooling efforts were successful and evacuation orders were lifted, but an “inoperable” valve in one of the involved tanks “created new challenges.”
The location of the incident is the GKN Aerospace in the 12000 block of Western Avenue.
The leak was first noted at about 3:22 p.m. on Thursday.
Schools in the area (mostly in the Garden Grove Unified School District) were shut down.

Evacuation zones were in the area north of Garden Grove Boulevard, south of Orangewood Avenue, east of Springdale Avenue and west of Dale Street.
Evacuation centers are the Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center (next to Bolsa Grande High School in Garden Grove Park) and Stanton Civic Center, 7800 Katella Ave., west of Beach Boulevard.
