All all-night mission brought good news on the chemical threat of an explosion at a plastics factory in West Garden Grove.

“That threat has been eliminated.” said Orange County officials on Monday morning after the mission revealed the result of an operation that sent firefighters into the heart of the GKN Aerospace factory in West Garden Grove.

“We’re happy to report that the threat of “BLEVE” – a boiling- liquid-expanding-vapor-explosion – is now off the table,” said Orange County Fire Authority Interim Chief TJ McGovern.

The crack inside the tank found on Sunday was relieving the pressure and temperatures were dropping from 100 degrees to 93 degrees.
However, evacuations are still in place; the public is asked to respect the restrictions previously announced.
