The Rockies rock Halos, 8-2; Freddie, Shohei lead Dodgers

In a battle of two teams with near-exact bottom-end records, the Colorado Rockies took the upper hand with a 8-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim.

The Denver team jumped out to an early 8-0 lead after four innings. With the win, the Rox are 24-38 and in fourth place in the National League West, leap-frogging the San Francisco Giants by a half-game.

The Angels gathered seven hits but made two errors. Wade Meckler continued to hit well for the Orange County team, batting 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a walk and one run scored. So far, he’s batting .323.

Sam Aldegheri (2-0) did well in relief, working 5.1 innings. yielding four hits and no runs.

The Angels are 23-39 and in fifth place in the American League West; they’ve now lost three straight games.

Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 5: The Los Angeles Dodgers built an early lead at Chase Field in Phoenix on Tuesday night, built it up to a 6-2 lead and held off a late D-backs rally for the win.

Freddie Freeman had a 3-for-5 night, drove in one run (including a home run). Shohei Ohtani was 2-for-4 with two RBI’s (including a triple and double), pushing his batting average to .298.

The Dodgers are 39-22, putting them in first place in the National League West by six games over the second-place San Diego Padres.
