Judge blocks immigration policy

A Trump administration policy that makes it more difficult to for some immigrants to come to America and remain was struck down by a federal judge on Friday.

According to the Associated Press, U.S. District Judge John McConnell Jr. said that the policy “three the lives of countless immigrants living in the United States into indeterminate legal limbo.”

He also said that the U.S. Immigration and Immigration Services were ignoring the law, calling the actions of those agencies to be “contrary to law and arbitrary and capricious.”

The law said that immigrants from 39 African, Asian, Latin American and Middle Eastern countries were “categorically barred” from receiving final decisions on work permits, asylum and citizenship applications.

Mixed news on U.S economy

Whether Friday was good news or bad news for the U.S. economy depends on which indicator you rely on the most.

The New York Times is reporting that the S&P 500 declined 2.64 percent, but that employers added 172,000 jobs in May.

However, wage growth isn’t keeping pace with higher prices. The jobless rate remains at 4.3 percent: 4 percent is considered “full employment.”

The jobs market perked up in part in response to reports that the rising influence of artificial intelligence would create new demand in the intelligence market.

Senate passes $70 billion immigration bill

A $70 billion immigration bill that will fund enforcement through 2029 was passed by the U.S. Senate on Friday by a 52-47 vote.

All Senate Democrats and one Republican voted against the bill, which will pay for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Border Patrol.

The Senate did not take action against President Donald Trump’s controversial $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization bill” to “compensate” what Republicans say was improper and illegal legal action against conservatives by the Joe Biden-era Justin Department.

GOP leaders say that no “guardrails” be placed on the immigration bill because President Donald Trump has abandoned the proposed fund in the face of widespread opposition.

Weather

The cooling trend we’ve seen this past week will be gently reversing itself in our West Orange County cities. Saturday is expected to have a daytime high of 73 with an overnight low of of 61, Saturday and Sunday will warm slowly to 74 (60 and 61) with partly cloudy skies. Tuesday will warm to 77 (63) with partly cloudy skies.
