Michael Nguyễn completed 13 of 21 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown, and ran for two more scores as Bolsa Grande defeated Savanna 47-22 on Thursday night at Bolsa Stadium.

The win gave the Matadors (4-2 overall, 3-1 in league) sole possession of second place in the nine-team Tango League. Savanna (3-3, 2-2) falls to fourth place.

Nguyen was not the only star for the Mats, as Anthony Bell carried the ball 19 times for 167 yards and two scores.

Next up on the schedule for Bolsa is another home game on Oct. 2, hosting Magnolia (2-2, 1-1).

Also on Thursday night, Santiago won big against the Century Centurions in a Tango League contest, prevailing 49-13. Michael Hoang led the Cavalier attack with 104 yards rushing and two touchdowns,

With the win, the Cavs are 2-3 overall and 1-2 in league. Their next game is on Oct. 1 hosting district rival La Quinta (3-1 overall, 2-1 in league).
