A 22-YEAR-OLD man is facing murder charges in the fatal stabbing of another man in Stanton (Shutterstock).

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in the stabbing killing of a 45-year-old man in Stanton on Thursday.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department – which provides police services to Stanton – arrested was Charles Matthew Swanson in the death of Joshua Lee Long, a homeless man.

The incident began around 6:15 p.m. with reports of a man wielding a knife and chasing another in the area of Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue.

Arriving deputies found Long suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
Using a description of the suspect and his vehicle, deputies spotted Swanson and after a vehicle pursuit, took him into custody. While fleeing, the suspect was involved in a collision with another automobile

He was booked into Orange County Jail in Santa Ana on suspicion of murder.
