Late rally outshines the Astros
Better late than never, and how! The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Houston Astros Friday night.
Trailing 6-4 after the Astros had a five-run inning of their own in the sixth, the Halos piled on the hits in the final inning to rally and win. Yunel Escobar homered to tie the score and then C.J. Cron singled to drive in the go-ahead run. Rafael Ortega delivered another big hit with a double that cleared the bases.
The win moved the Angels’ record to 68-86, good for fourth place in the American League West, two games ahead of the fifth-place Oakland A’s. The Astros went to 81-73, falling further behind in their bid for a wild card spot.
