EDISON and Bolsa Grande boys’ basketball teams remained in first in their leagues after wins Friday night.

Edison and Bolsa Grande are alone atop their respective leagues in boys’ basketball action Friday for teams in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area. The Chargers defeated Marina 52-31 to improve to 5-0 in the Sunset League, while the Matadors – defending Garden Grove League champs – beat Garden Grove 72-56 to go to 4-0 in league.

Nate Matthews scored 18 to lead EHS (17-3) in that win; Justin Phan had 19 as the top scorer for BGHS (15-5).

On the girls’ side, Garden Grove defeated Bolsa Grande 39-21 to remain atop the Grove League with a 4-0 mark, 14-6 overall. The Argos were led by Alexis Christian with 12 points, while the Matadors (3-2, 11-10) were paced by Tiffany Ly with seven points.
