“Suspicious person” held on drug charge

A MAN was been arrested in Westminster Thursday morning on drug and gun charges.

A man in a “suspicious vehicle” was arrested by Westminster police Thursday morning in the 15200 block of Newland Street near Russell Paris Park.

A WPD officer contacted the driver, who “appeared to be under the influence.”

A search of his vehicle turned up heroin, prescription drugs, a scale, and a handgun. The suspect was booked for drug sales, being under the influence of drugs and possession of a firearm. Since he was a convicted felon, a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm will be added.

Brush fire knocked out by HBFD

Not all the fires were in Los Angeles County on Thursday. The Huntington Beach Fire Department fought a vegetation blaze in Bartlett Park near Adams Avenue and Beach Boulevard in the morning.

Students and staff from the nearby La Petite Academy were evacuated by police. There were no reported injuries.

Rose Parade trip is scheduled

A trip to the see the 129th Tournament of Roses Parade is being planned for Jan. 1 in connection with the City of Westminster’s Community Services and Recreation Department.

Tickets will be $95 per person, which includes transportation and reserved grandstand seats (1217 E. Colorado Blvd.) in Pasadena. Children under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.

The bus will leave promptly at 6 a.m. from the Civic Center parking lot, 8200 Westminster Blvd. Reservations are available on a limited first-come basis. For more information call (714) 548-3671.
