It was an afternoon of routs Friday for baseball and softball teams in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Stanton-Westminster area. Eight games saw the victor win by 10 runs or more and five were by shutouts.

Mike Nadeau drove in four runs and scored three times as La Quinta High routed Santiago 14-0 in a Garden Grove League baseball contest Friday afternoon. Angel Zamora also had an outstanding game, going 2-for-3, scoring four runs and stealing a base.

The Aztecs are now 13-7 overall and 6-4 in the GGL, worth third place behind Loara and Rancho Alamitos.

Rancho, meanwhile, thumped Bolsa Grande 15-4 to improve to 13-6 overall and 10-1 in league play. Alberto Rodriguez went 4-for-5 and drove in four runs for the Vaqueros.

Loara nearly sewed up no worse than a tie for the league title in the Saxons’ first season in the GGL with a 12-0 win over Los Amigos. LHS is 13-8 overall and 11-0 in league. Loara has a 1.5 game game league over Rancho with two games left on the schedule and both against last-place Santiago.

In softball play, Pacifica rolled over Tustin 11-0 to remain one game ahead of Cypress in the Empire League. The Mariners are 12-3-1 overall and 6-0 in league while Cypress is 16-7-1 and 5-1.
