Four arrested for drugs, guns

WESTMINSTER police on Wednesday seized illegal drugs and guns (WPD image).

Four persons, including adults and juveniles, were arrested Wednesday on drugs and gun possession charges at a motel in Westminster.

According to the Westminster Police Department, detectives were investigating criminal activity in the 13000 block of Goldenwest Street. They observed multiple gang members, many of whom were on probation or parole. Detectives made contact and located loaded guns on two of the subjects and illegal drugs on a third.

Two of the juveniles had a total of 12 prior arrests and one of the adults had five prior arrests. All four were arrested and the loaded firearms were taken as evidence.

9/11 ceremony is cancelled

The annual 9/11 memorial event in Westminster has been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

In its place, residents are encouraged to visit the Community Services and Recreations’s “Visual Recreation Center” for resources and activities in observance of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.

Information and activities include virtual tours of the 9/11 Memorial Museum and the Orange County Veterans’ Hall; “Remembering 9/11 in Pictures” by National Geographic; and downloadable coloring sheets, videos and poems.

Last year’s ceremony will be aired on Friday at 10 a.m. through local TV cable channels.
