A jury trial has been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 13 for a man accused of the 2016 strangling death of a Huntington Beach woman.
Jason Joseph Becher, then 41, will face a murder charge in Central Justice Center in Santa Ana at 9 a.m., charged with the killing of Marylou Sarkissian, 50, who he had previously dated. According to the Orange County District Attorney’s office, the victim had a restraining order in place against Becher, but he went to her home in the early hours of Dec. 2 after he had been out drinking.
The suspect allegedly beat and strangled the woman, then fled. Later that day, a person called the Huntington Beach Police Department and asked for a check on Sarkissian’s welfare. Officers found her body in her home.
A warrant was issued for Becher’s arrest, and he was arrested in Grants Pass, Oregon the next day. He was later extradited back to Orange County to face the charges
