New coronavirus cases in Orange County increased but deaths declined since yesterday, according to Sunday’s report from the county health care agency.
The OCHCA lists 246 new COVID-19 positive cases, compared to 165 on Saturday. However, two deaths were reported on Sunday, compared to 10 the day before.
The number of cumulative cases is now at 53,315, of which 47,783 are considered recovered. The total of COVID-19 deaths in Orange County is at 1,214.
As for cases hospitalized, the total rose in one day from 156 to 165, but those in intensive care units declined from 47 to 45.
On the world stage, the number of global deaths is approaching 1 million. According to the Johns Hopkins University, that total is now at 995,608. The United States leads with 204,724 deaths, followed by Brazil with 141,406 and Indian with 94,503.
Global cases show 32,945,376 infections. The U.S. leads with 7,105,604 cases, followed by India with 5,992,532 and Brazil with 4,717,911.
