Public safety workers were busy this weekend in Garden Grove, Westminster and in nearby Santa Ana.

In the vehicle, officers found a loaded firearm, drugs, drug paraphernalia and two pellet guns. A check of records showed that all were convicted felons and members of the same criminal street gang.

On Sunday at around 4:23 p.m. a traffic collision at Clinton Street and Garden Grove Boulevard in Garden Grove left a motorist trapped in a damaged vehicle. Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority – which provides fire and paramedic service for Garden Grove – used the “Jaws of Life” device to extricate the motorist, who was transported to an area hospital.

Also on Sunday afternoon, the Southeast Dyer Enforcement Team of the Santa Ana Police Department  stopped an automobile for vehicle code violations. A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded 9mm pistol and ammunition. The driver and passenger were arrested for firearms violations.
