COVID-19 stats trending down

NUMBERS IN Tuesday’s coronavirus tally for Orange County showed stats generally trending down (Shutterstock).

Reports of new confirmed coronavirus cases, deaths, hospitalizations and intensive care units in Orange County continued to reflect a diminishing impact of COVID-19 locally.

According to the county health agency, Tuesday’s tally showed 369 new cases. That’s up from 361 on Sunday and 289 on Monday, but still among the lowest counts during the “winter surge” which showed numbers spiking dramatically.

Deaths in the latest report are at 23, higher than Monday’s17, but lower than Sunday’s 33.

Hospitalizations dropped to 748 from Sunday’s 790 and ICU use fell to 235 from 257.

To date, there have been 243,163 cases reported in Orange County, of which 217,220 are considered to be recovered. Total deaths are at 3,617.

Here is a list of the OC cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 43,579 (647)
  • Anaheim: 40,450 (658)
  • Garden Grove: 15,880 (282)
  • Orange: 11,464 (188)
  • Fullerton: 10,841 (231)
  • Huntington Beach: 10,041 (166)

Westminster has had 6,791 cases and 139 deaths. Stanton has had 3,061 cases and 46 deaths.
