Decline in new cases continues

NEW CORONAVIRUS cases declined Sunday in Orange County (Shutterstock).

The trend toward fewer new coronavirus cases in Orange County continues, but the number of deaths is also showing a pattern of small increases.

According to the county health agency, 113 new cases were reported for Sunday, compared to 118 on Saturday and 127 on Friday. Deaths are at 45 on Sunday, up from 26 on Saturday and 14 on Friday.

Hospitalizations from COVID-19 infections declined to 187 from 197 on Saturday and 206 on Friday. Cases in intensive care units stayed steady at 43.

The cumulative total of cases in Orange County is now at 249,539, of which 240,949 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 4,607.

  • Irvine: 10,314 (80)

Westminster has had 7,047 cases and 185 cases. Stanton has had 3,145 cases and 63 deaths.
