1 dead in SUV vs. cycle crash

POLICE are investigating a fatal accident in Huntington Beach between an SUV and a motorcycle (Shutterstock).

One person is dead and another hospitalized after a crash between a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle in Huntington Beach.

According to Jennifer Carey, public information officer for the HBPD, officers responded at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a traffic collision on Beach Boulevard north of Adams Avenue. Involved was a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Toyota Rav-4.

Arriving officers found the Harley rider, a 54-year-old resident of Stanton, deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, a 90-year-old Huntington Beach man, sustained injuries and was taken to a local area hospital. It’s unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.

The preliminary investigation that followed indicated that the motorcycle was moving northbound on Beach, north of Adams, when it collided with the Rav-4 as it made a left turn across the northbound lanes from the southbound Beach Boulevard left turn pocket.
