COVID-19 stats rising, falling

Statistics on the coronavirus in Orange County continue to bounce around, up and down.

According to Thursday’s report from the county health care agency, confirmed new cases increased to 304 from 259 on Wednesday. That number was down from Tuesday’s total of 433 cases.

The number of cases in intensive care units is at 87, a slight increase from Wednesday’s total of 85, but lower than Tuesday’s 95. Deaths remain steady at eight and hospitalizations dropped from 326 to 313.

To date, cases of coronavirus have totaled 294,871, of which 278,753 are considered recovered. The death total is 5,371.

Nationally, coronavirus cases are down 12 percent over a 14-day period, according to The New York Times. Deaths have risen 35 percent. In California – reports the Los Angeles Times – cases are down 22 percent and deaths up 10 percent.
