Two persons were wounded by gunshots and five people arrested in an incident Tuesday night in downtown Huntington Beach.

According to Jennifer Carey, public information officer for the HBPD, police were summoned to the area of 3rd Street and Walnut Avenue at around 11:40 p.m. in response to reports of shots fired.

Arriving officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to a local hospital. Details about their condition were not available, but “both are expected to survive,” said Carey.

A vehicle stop a short time later near the site of the shooting resulted in finding five people who matched the description of the suspected shooters. They were arrested and brought to the HBPD station for further questioning.

Preliminary investigation into the incident suggests that an argument, followed by a “physical altercation” took place between the two groups before shots were fired.
