Two days of improving statistics on new cases of coronavirus and deaths reversed in Wednesday’s report from the Orange County Health Care Agency.
According to the OCHCA, confirmed new cases rose from 164 on Tuesday to 384 and deaths increased from three to seven. However, hospitalizations declined from 230 to 224 and the use of intensive care units to treat COVID-19 patients stayed even at 60.
To date, the number of OC cases is at 299,123, of which 285,985 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 5,454.
At the national level, cases are down 24 percent and deaths by 12 percent (over a 14-day period) according to The New York Times. In California, Los Angeles Times calculates a 28 percent drop in new cases and a 20 percent decline in deaths over a similar period.
