Monday’s report from the Orange County Health Care Agency reported 835 new coronavirus cases over the three-day period from Saturday to today.
That averages out to about 278 cases per day. Friday’s total was 104, and Thursday’s at 396.
Deaths in Monday’s tally were at 16, up from 12 (also a three-day tally). Hospitalization stand at 207 (up from 190) and the use of intensive care units to treat COVID-19 patients ticked up from 43 to 44.
So far, Orange County has had 303,570 cases, of which 292,065 are considered recovered. The death total is at 5,578.
Nationally, The New York Times is reporting a 25 percent decrease in new cases over a 14-day period. Deaths are down 13 percent. In California, Los Angeles Times reports a 15 percent drop in new cases over a similar period, and a 2 percent increase in deaths.
