The count of confirmed new coronavirus cases in Orange County is continuing its downward arc.
Tuesday’s total reported by the county health care agency was 760, but since that was a four-day total – because of the George Washington’s birthday holiday – the daily average is 190. That’s down from Friday’s 567.
The total of deaths – also a four-day total is 55, but the average is 13.5. That compares to Friday’s 31.
Hospitalizations slid from 363 to 325 and the number of patients being treated in intensive care units for COVID-19 declined from 77 to 69.
So far, Orange County has had 535,935 cases of coronavirus, of which 508,307 are considered recovered. The death toll is at 6,505.
Nationally, The New York Times is reporting that – over a 14-day period – new cases are down 65 percent and deaths by 19 percents. In California, Los Angeles Times calculates that new cases have fallen by 66 percent, but deaths are up by 10 percent.
