Declaring it “one more measure of justice,” President Joe Biden on Monday announced that a U.S. drone attack in Kabul – the capital of Afghanistan – had taken the life of one of the men who had planned the 9-11 attacks on the United States.
According to The Associated Press, the attack killed Ayman al-Zawahri on Sunday. He was considered the man who planned the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on New York and Washington along with Osama Bin Laden.
“This terrorist leader is no more,” said Biden.
U.S Navy Seals killed Bin-Laden in a raid in 2011.
U.S. Capitol rioter sentenced to seven years
A man who battled police as he tried for force his way into the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 in an effort to stop certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election got a harsh sentence and a lecture Monday.

Guy Wesley Reffitt, 49, of Texas, was sentenced to seven years in federal prison after being convicted of five felony counts.
District Judge Dabney Friedrich attacked the idea that the rioters saw themselves as “patriots.”
“I want to be very clear … under no legitimate definition of the term ‘patriot’ does Mr. Reffitt’s behavior … fit the term. It is the antithesis of the term.”
Also in the news … California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency Monday to accelerate the production and use of the monkeypox vaccine. The virus spreads through close contact and although anyone can contract it, so far it has mostly affected men who have sex with other men.
Sports: Watson suspended for six games
Cleveland Browns quarterback DeShaun Watson was hit Monday by the NFL with a six-game suspension for violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.
A total of 25 civil lawsuits have been filed against Watson from “inappropriate behavior” to sexual assault.
The Los Angeles Angels were idle, but the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 8-2 to improve to 69-33.

The West Orange County area will continue to see warm temperatures for the coming week, with daytime highs ranging from 85 to 81, and nights cooling to as low as 67. Tuesday should be partly cloudy and 85, with Wednesday turning to 81 and mostly sunny conditions. That’ll go to 82 and part cloudy skies on Thursday, followed by 83 and sunny on Friday.
