The nomination period for the office of Mayor of Westminster has been extended to Wednesday as incumbent Tri Ta has not taken out nomination papers for another term.
Ta is the Republican candidate for the 70th state Assembly District seat against Democrat Diedre Thu-Ha Nguyen, a Garden Grove council member.
According to the city clerk’s office – as of Friday’s deadline – four people have qualified for the top electoral post in the city.
They are:
- Moses Castillo, Tai Do (councilmember), Kimberly Ho (councilmember) and Chi Charlie Nguyen (councilmember).
For the District 1 seat, the candidates are John Gentile and Amy West.
For the District 4 seat, the candidates are:
- Namquan Nguyen, Teri Vu Nguyen and Jimmy Pham.
The general election will be held on Nov. 8.
