The Village Green in downtown Garden Grove turned into a kind of winter wonderland on Saturday afternoon and evening as throngs of “kids” of all ages showed up to help kick off the Christmas season here.
“Winter in the Grove,” organized by the City of Garden Grove, featured the “Snowtopia” snow slides, a kiddie train, a variety of food items, booths and a chance to sit down with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
A highlight of the event was the lighting of the big Christmas tree at the northern edge of the park at Euclid and Main streets, as well as entertainment provided by local schools and arts organizations.
It will stay illuminated throughout the holiday season.
