Drive-by shooting wounds one

A drive-by shooting Thursday night in Westminster sent a teenager to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist.

According to WPD Commander Kevin MacCormick, the incident took place in the 7000 block of 21st Street – southeast of Trask Avenue and Goldenwest Street – at around 8:33 p.m.

The wounded 14-year-old was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his wound, which was not consider life-threatening.

Witnesses at the scene said they heard four to five gunshots, possibly coming from an “unknown vehicle” which left the scene “at a high rate of speed.”

The incident is being investigated by the WPD Detective Bureau. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call (714) 548-3767.
