Employees of the month will be recognized when the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education meets on Tuesday.
Jason Bevacqua, assistant superintendent for personnel services, will present the certificated and classified employee awardees.
Also on the agenda will be second reading of revised board policies for the GGUSD.
They include policies on two issues that have been in the news in recent months, such as “mobile communications devices”; i.e. “smart phones.”
The policy authorizes each school to “establish and implement regulations governing the possession or use” of such devices by students while in school grounds, while at school-sponsored activities or while under GGUSD employees’s supervision and control.
News reports have indicated that across the nation cell phones have been sometimes used in incidents of bullying, arranging fights or buying drugs.
Also on the agenda is a policy revision regarding public participation in board meetings, including language about “conduct and remarks to the board.” At a recent meeting, the board room was cleared by police when members of the audience became boisterous.
The GGUSD serves most of Garden Grove and parts of Anaheim, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
The board will meet at 7 p.m. at the Annex Board Room, 10331 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove.

This GGUSD BOARD CONTINUES TO FORGET THEY WORK for the People. Agenda policies to silence the public who come to share our opinions and request will not be silenced. Recent public disapproval for GGUSD’S rogue actions through public actions is called accountabulity. GGUSD CLEARLY CONTINUES ignoring parents, community and students calling to stop their malfeasance to our public education system. No surprise another agenda aligned to CHANGE board policies to silence public comments. Perhaps it’s because the board doesn’t like hearing public disapproval of their policies and actions. WE THE PEOPLE ARE COLLECTING EVIDENCE!
