Successful students and accomplished employees were recognized by the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education when it met on Tuesday night.
The board heard presentations on the Academic Pentathlon program, in which students compete with teams from the area and around the nation. High honors were won by Russell Elementary, Jordan Intermediate and Walton Intermediate.
Celebrated were the district’s certificated and classified employees of the month for November. The classified employee was Andrea Liu of Alamitos Intermediate and the certificated winner was Raoul Rodriguez of Peters (4-6) Elementary.
Also on Tuesday night, the board voted – with trustees Lan Quoc Nguyen and Terri Rocco absent – 3-0 to approve the cost of $16,766,191.23 for a two-story modular building on the campus of Santiago High School, located at 12342 Trask Ave. in Garden Grove.
The next meeting of the board is set for Dec. 12.
