After seven years as superintendent of the Huntington Beach Union High School District, Clint Harwick will be stepping down from his post effective this August.
Harwick announced his resignation after meeting with the HBUHSD Board of Trustees on March 16.
During his 36 years in education, he has served at many levels in public schools. He started as a school custodian, then became a teacher, a site administrator and – eventually – a superintendent.
Before coming to the HBUHSD, he served as the top educator for the Rim of the World Unified School District, Charter Oak Unified School District and Saddleback Unified School District.
“Over the last seven years, I have been truly blessed to
watch some of the best educators and support providers in the county make magical connections with students and help them be successful,” shared Dr. Harwick. “We have celebrated teachers of the year, classified employees, and administrators of the year. We have won CIF titles, artistic awards, and been demonstration sites for countless programs. We have also faced some challenges including fiscal issues, political changes, and even a worldwide pandemic. The best part is, we always did it together.”
The HBUHSD is a 9-12 system that serves Huntington Beach as well as parts of Fountain Valley, Garden Grove and Westminster.
