If the regular session of Tuesday’s meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council starts a bit late, it should be no surprise. The closed session has a full agenda.

Starting at 4:30 p.m, the council will meet with City Attorney Michael Gates to confer on nine cases of pending litigation. They include one lawsuit brought by Pacific Airshow LLC against the city regarding the 2021 aviation exhibition over the coastline cut short by one day because of an oil spill off shore.

Another is the City of Huntington Beach v. Gov. Gavin Newsom and the state Department of Housing and Community Development over the city’s regional housing needs assessment, which seeks to require that Surf City zone for over 13,000 new housing units.

Also on the agenda is a public hearing to consider “adjusting” water and sewer rates and adoption of an ordinance allowing for a fee of $250 for police calls related to loud and otherwise unruly parties. The amount could be higher if there was damage or injury to police vehicles and/or personnel.

The regular session is scheduled to commence at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers., 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).
