Colleges crack down on encampments, protestors

ENCAMPMENT at Columbia University (Wikipedia).

Tent encampments at college and universities created by pro-Palestinian students are now subject to removal and suspension of students involved. Columbia University in New York City has announced it was beginning the process of identifying and suspending students involved after an ultimatum was ignored.

No police were called, but protesters were notified that if they failed to comply and didn’t sign a form agreeing to abide by university policies through June 2025, they would be suspended from the college pending a hearing.

At the University of Texas in Austin, law enforcement officers, some dressed in riot-control gear, began arresting students. Pepper spray and flash-bang grenades were employed where students sought to block the path of a police van.
