Dr. Anthony Fauci, the man who led America’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, received a rough questioning on Monday from some members of a House subcommittee.

Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), considered among the most far-right members of Congress, refused to  refer to him as “doctor” and accused him of colluding with pharmacuetical companies to exaggerate the danger of the coronavirus.

She further urged that he be prosecuted and imprisoned for “crimes against humanity.”

Greene was reprimanded by the chair of the committee for refusing to use Fauci’s medical title.

Israel seized buffer zone, and then …

HAMAS vs. Israel (Shutterstock).

Rejecting warnings from Egypt, Israeli forces have seized control of the Philadelphi Corridor, a “buffer” zone between the two countries.  But there’s been no reaction.

Although Israel and Egypt have fought several wars – mostly won by Israel – the 1979 peace deal brokered by the United States has stabilized that once volatile area, distanced Egypt from more radical states and brought in billions of dollars of American assistance.

Israel took the “zone” claiming it had to control the area to destroy underground tunnels used by Hamas to smuggle arms into the Gaza Strip.

Sports: Angels beat Padres

The Los Angeles Angels opened a series Monday at home hosting the San Diego Padres on Monday night and came away with a 2-1 win. Tyler Anderson pitched 6.2 strong innings, giving up five hits and one run. He walked three batters and struck out two.

Luis Guillorme’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth brought in Jo Adell with the winning run. The Angels are 22-38 and remain in fifth place in the American League West.  Patrick Sandoval (2-8) will get the start for the Halos in Tuesday’s game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are idle but will open a series in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Tyler Glasgow (6-3) will make the start for the Blue Crew.

Weather: Getting warmer …

Little by little, summer is approaching and temperatures are rising in our West Orange County area. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies through Friday and daytime highs rising from 75 on Tuesday to 77 on Friday. Overnight lows will be from 62 to 63.

  1. To say that Majorie Taylor Greene “grilled” Dr. Fauci is being generous; it was more like a series of ad hominem attacks.
