Democrats in the House of Representatives are gearing up to take on a far-right plan of governance that could emerge if former president Donald Trump wins the White House this fall.

The plan, termed “Project 2025,” would concentrate more power in the executive branch – the White House – and staff the civil service with people chosen for their conservative credentials.

Rep. Jared Huffman (D-California) said “The stakes just couldn’t be higher.” Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation, said, “Project 2025 will not be stopped. We will not give up and we will win.”

Trump has not formally endorsed the 1,000-page document, but numerous former Trump administration officials contributed to the plan, it is reported.

Angels fall in ‘Zona; Dodgers hammer Rangers

Jose Suarez had a rough outing on Tuesday, getting touched for six hits and four runs in 2.2 innings in the Los Angeles Angels’ 9-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road.

The Angels had 11 hits, including Taylor Ward’s 12th home run of the season, but it wasn’t enough as their record dropped to 25-41, good for fourth place in the American League West.

The Los Angeles Dodgers got four home runs in the sixth inning en route to a 15-2 route of the Texas Rangers at Chavez Ravine. Going deep for the Blue Crew for the entire game were Will Smith (three runs), Shohei Ohtani (two runs), Freddie Freeman (solo shot), Teo Hernandez (two runs) and Jason Hayward (two runs).

That was more offense than Dodger starter James Paxton (6-1) needed. He worked six innings, giving up two hits and one run. He struck out two batters and walked two.

The Dodgers are 42-26 and remain in first in the National League West.
