Late rallies paid off for one team, but not for another.

The Los Angeles Dodgers scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to post a 6-5 walkoff win Tuesday over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Los Angeles Angels scored two in the seventh and ninth innings but it wasn’t enough as they lost 7-5 to the A’s in Oakland.

At Dodger Stadium, the Blue Crew trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh when Shohei Ohtani hit a two-run home run – his 27th round-tripper of the season – to give the team a 4-3 lead.

The D-backs retook the lead with solo runs in the eighth and ninth, but the Dodgers staged their rally with two out as Freddie Freeman doubled in Will Smith and Teo Hernandez singled in Freeman with the winning run.

With the win, the Dodgers are 53-33 and lead the National League West by 8.5 games.

Up in Oakland, the Angels suffered their second straight loss after winning six in a row. The A’s built a 7-1 lead after six innings, but the Orange County team staged two rallies to make it close.

Leadoff batter Nolan Schanuel had the best night for the Angels, going 4-for-4 – including a double –and driving in four runs. Logan O’Hoppe singled and walked.

The loss went to Jose Soriano (4-6) who was tagged for three hits – including two home runs – and four runs in four innings. He struck out four and walked one.

With the loss, the Halos are 36-48 and in fourth place in the American League West.
