Bolsa Chica Senior Care project goes to council for a final vote

A light agenda will greet the Huntington Beach City Council when it meets on Tuesday.

The council will consider the second reading and adoption of an ordinance clearing the way for the Bolsa Chica Senior Care Community Project.

Located on a 3.10-acre site at 4952 and 4972 Warner Ave. (near Bolsa Chica Street), the project would include 25 memory care units, 134 assisted living units and a subterranean parking garage. There would be on-site indoor and outdoor amenities and dining facilities with alcohol service.

The council voted on Oct. 18 to approve the project with some changes on a 4-3 vote, with Councilmembers Tony Strickland, Dan Kalmick, Rhonda Bolton and Natalie Moser in favor and opposed were Mayor Gracey Van Der Mark, Vice Mayor Pat Burns and Councilmember Casey McKeon.

Also on the agenda will be considering of resolutions on “side letters of agreement” between the city and the Huntington Beach Fire Management and Huntington Beach Firefighters associations.

The next meeting of the council is set for Dec. 3 when councilmembers, city clerk and the city treasurer will be sworn in for a new term. The council meets in closed session at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. for the regular meeting at 2000 Main Street (at Yorktown Avenue).
