An executive order requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship in order to vote in federal elections was signed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday, an order which would also require that all ballots be received on Election Day.
According to the Associated Press, the order threatens to withhold federal funds from states that don’t comply with the order.
The order is certain to draw widespread challenges from states who have long had extensive authority to set their own election rules,
Trump’s order follows a history of his complaints against the processes by which elections are held. He claimed –without evidence – that the 2020 presidential election was rigged and that he was the actual victor.
That belief is believed to play a role in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of Trump.
Voting by non-citizens in federal elections is illegal and can be prosecuted as a felony, and state voter registrars of both parties believe that election fraud is rare.
Limited cease-fire deal reached?

A cease-fire in the Black Sea and end to attacks on energy facilities between Russia and Ukraine has been reached, the White House announced on Tuesday.
According to The New York Times, Ukrainian President Voldoymyr Zelensky said it’s “too early to say that it will work.”
Many details remain to be worked out. Russia will agree to a suspension of combat on the Black Sea only if Western countries – including the U.S. – drop the ban on the importing of Russian agricultural products.

The forecast for Wednesday calls for morning clouds and afternoon sun with a daytime high of 65 and an overnight low of 56. Thursday should be cloudy all day with temps of 67 (55). Friday is expected to be similar to Wednesday with temps of 66 (52) and Saturday will warm a bit to 68 (52) with partly cloudy skies.
