Most league play for local high school baseball and softball teams is on hiatus for spring tournament games, but there’s still plenty of action.
Among those teams. some athletes for schools in our West Orange County area are making their marks with outstanding statistical performances.
For example, Jordan Solis of Westminster High is batting .706, best in Orange County, and teammate Ernesto Delgado is hitting .545. Not far behind is Rudy Carrillo of Bolsa Grande, fifth best in the county at .538.
In lucky 13th is Carson Lobossiere of Rancho Alamitos at .478. Next up in 14th is Riley Rakowski from La Quinta (.469). One more Lion … Robert Lapine of Westminster (.467).
By the way, WHS is 4-3-1 overall and 2-2 in the Orange Coast League.
On the softball side, Sophia Gutierrez of Los Amigos (8-0, 1-0 in league) has posted a 0.86 earned run average for the Lobos. Ariana Salas of Pacifica (8-4, 2-0 in the Crestview League) is at 1.97 for the Mariners and teammate Ellena Ediss is at 2.71.
Sophia is also among the strikeout leaders with 77. Ellie Pendergraft of Ocean View (2-11) has 39 K’s.
