The Los Angeles Angels continued their winning ways with a come-from-behind 4-3 win on the road over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.
Trailing 3-2 after seven innings, the Halos rallied with one run each in the eighth and ninth innings to take the lead. The Rays loaded the bases with no one out in the bottom of the ninth, but were unable to score.
The Angels are now 7-3 and in second place in the American League West, a half-game behind the Texas Rangers.
Kyren Paris gave the Angels a 2-0 lead in the top of the second with a home run. The Rays (now 4-6) took a 3-2 lead with three runs in the seventh.
Travis d’Arnaud tied the game in the top of the eighth with a ground out that scored a runner from third, and the Halos got the go-ahead run when Luis Rengifo singled to center, bringing in Kevin Newman.
Kyle Hendrix made the pitching start for the Angels, working five innings and yielding just two hits. He struck out four batters and walked two.
The Angels and Rays will play again on Wednesday.
Blue Crew has the blues
After starting the season with an eight-game winning streak, the Los Angeles Dodgers are now in the midst of a three-game losing streak and have lost four of five games.
The Washington Nationals (5-6) jumped out to an 8-0 lead after four innings and held on for an 8-2 victory. The Dodgers are now 9-4 and now in third place in the National League West behind the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.
Justin Wrobleski made the start for the Dodgers and was hit for all eight runs in his five innings on the mound. Andy Pages led the LAD offense with two hits, one RBI and one run scored.
The Dodgers and Nationals will play again on Wednesday.
