A MANSLAUGHTER charge has been made in a fatal ‘car-surfing’ death in Huntington Beach (Shutterstock).
A 21-year-old Huntington Beach man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter by the Orange County District Attorney’s office in the fatal towing of a friend on his e-bike at speeds of over 50 miles an hour on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach.
Brandon Scott Soleau faces one charge of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in the August 2025 death of Kolby Kekoa Aipa, 20. If convicted, Soleau faces a maximum sentence of six years in state prison.
Soleau is accused of picking up eight passengers in his Toyota Tacoma after a movie premiere in Huntington Beach on Aug. 2 at about 10:15 p.m.
Aipa allegedly was riding his e-bike alongside the Toyota and asked if he could grab on and “car surf.” Soleau allegedly agreed. Near Seapoint Street, Aipa lost control and fell.
He was taken UCI Medical Center in Orange where he died three days later from blunt head trauma.

Young people feel like they are immortal and nothing will happen to them. This guy/kid didn’t want to kill his friend. I hope they don’t send him to jail for the rest of his life. He should lose his license for a few years and what ever punishment the courts come up with.
