Is Walmart, the nation’s biggest retailer, going to pass on some of the increased costs of goods tied to rising tariffs imported goods, or will it “eat” some of them as demanded by President Donald Trump?
According to The Associated Press, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said that Walmart would likely raise at lease some prices after a conversation with that company’s CEO.
He indicated that he thought the consumers were more sensitive to changes in gasoline prices than in retail goods, noting that while fuel prices rose in the last week, they are lower than a year ago, and considerably lower than under the Biden Administration.
Trump on Saturday morning warned Walmart not to charge consumers more to make up for tariff costs. “I’ll be watching, and so will your customers,” the social media post read.
Biden diagnosed with prostate cancer
What’s described as an “aggressive form of the disease” has been diagnosed for the prostate cancer discovered in former President Joe Biden.
The Associated Press is reporting that “urinary symptoms” led to the discovery of a prostate nodule on Friday, leading to the diagnosis. The cancer cells are said to have spread to the bone.
A statement from Biden’s office indicate that the “cancer appears to be “hormone-sensitive which allows for effective-management.”
Sports: Angels sweep Dodgers
The Los Angeles Angels swept their interleague series on Sunday with a 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. at Chavez Ravine. The Halos jumped out to a 4–0 lead, but the Blue Crew tied it on a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh by Will Smith.
However, the visitors regained the lead in the top of the eight on a solo home run by Travis d’Amaud and the Halos tacked on an insurance run in the ninth.
With the win, the Angels are 20-25 and moved to within one game of fourth place in the American League West.
The Dodgers are 29-18 and remain in first place in the National League West by one game as the second place San Diego Padres were swept in three games by the Seattle Mariners.
