A HUNTINGTON BEACH man was arrested for the murder of a Huntington Beach woman in Costa Mesa (Shutterstock).

A 19-year-old Huntington Beach man was arrested Saturday in the murder of a 20-year-old Huntington Beach woman in Costa Mesa last week.

According to the Costa Mesa Police Department, on June 6 Oscar Saldivar was taken in custody by detectives who also served search warrants at his home and recovered a firearm.

The incident took place on Monday, June 2 at around 11:10 p.m. when police were notified of shots fired and a person shot in the 1500 block of Lukup Lane. Responding officers found the woman on the sidewalk with “several apparent gunshot wounds.” After being rendered medical treatment by CMPD and Costa Mesa Fire and Rescue personnel, the woman – later identified as Monserrat Colorado – was taken to a local hospital were she was pronounced deceased.

The suspect and victim are believed to have known each other, but the nature of the relationship is still under investigation.
