The Los Angeles Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers went in different directions on Tuesday night.

With a 2-1 win over the Athletics  in Anaheim, the Angels (32-34) moved to within a half-game of second place behind the Seattle Mariners (33-33) in the American League West.

Down in San Diego, the Blue Crew (40-28) was sunk 11-1 by the Padres. The chief beneficiaries were the surging San Francisco Giants, who won their sixth game in a row and moved into second place in the National League West (39-28), a half-game behind the Dodgers.

The Padres (38-28) fell into third, one game back.

At the Big A, Nolan Schanuel’s walkoff single with two out in the 10th brought home Jo Adell with the winning run. He was 3-for-4 on Tuesday and raised his batting average to .284.

Travis D’Amaud had the other Angel run with a homer.

The other Angel hero was Jose Soriano, who pitched seven innings, yielding two hits and one earned run. He struck out 12 and walked two.
