The victim reported being beaten by the suspect, later identified as Joseph Angel Palacios.

On Sunday morning officers located Palacios at a Motel 6, 1501 N. Harbor. He barricaded himself inside a room and refused to surrender, say police.

Crisis negotiators and SWAT responded to the scene and confirmed he was inside the room and with a woman who was a “willing participant.”

After about eight hours of negotiations and operations by SWAT, both the woman and Palacios surrendered. He was taken into custody and booked at the Santa Ana Jail for attempted murder.

  1. I’m surprised the Santa Ana Police didn’t just say it was a gang fight and close the case. I was jumped by a gang in 1979 and stabbed in the back with a kitchen knife. Collapsed a lung and lost my spleen. The cops didn’t bother to investigate. They never even discussed it with me.
