Some people probably have no use for cannabis, but some law enforcement agencies have found its taxes useful in keeping the streets safe.

Under the program, the GGPD is eligible for $250,000 through the California Highway Patrol to implement checkpoints for driving under the influence and California Driver Licenses.

Additionally, the grant money can be used for selective DUI operations and educational activities in the community.

The GGPD has applied for and been awarded similar grants since 1996.

Also on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting, the council will consider awarding of financial feasibility consulting services contracts to Keyser Marston and Tierra West Advisors, Inc. at a cost not the exceed $100,000 per year, per contract.

The purpose of the contracts is to provide assistance to the city in procuring “high quality development” of affordable housing and “commercial reinvestment” in the city.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the council chamber in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave.
