A woman suspected of shooting a man in a Huntington Beach store on Monday morning was herself fatally shot in South Gate later in the day.

According to authorities, she was stopped by police at San Carlos Avenue, north of Firestone Boulevard around 9:30 a.m.

Police say she she got out of her vehicle “wielding a gun,” and they opened fire, wounding her.

The woman – who was not immediately identified – was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

She was the suspect in a shooting of a man in the parking lot of a California Closets store at Springdale Street and Skylab Road in Huntington Beach. The man was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
