A murder charge was brought Tuesday against Tyler Robinson, the man accused of fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
According to the Associated Press, prosecutors said that the suspect left a note of confession to his partner in which he had the opportunity to kill Kirk “and I’m going to take it.”
Utah County Attorney Jeff Grey announced the charges which – if Robinson is convicted – could result in the death penalty.
Kirk was speaking to students at Utah State University on Sept. 10 when he was shot. Authorities allege that Robinson fired the fatal shots with a bolt-action rifle from the roof of a “nearby” building.

New ground offensive in Gaza
A ground offensive in Gaza City by Israeli forces has begun.
The Israeli Ground Forces on Tuesday confirmed that its troops are moving from the edges of the city toward its center. Gaza City is the largest community in the Gaza strip, where Israeli and Hamas forces have been fighting for almost a year.
An estimated 3,000 Hamas fighters – and allies – are in Gaza City, according to United Press International.
The health ministry in Gaza reported that 59 people have been killed in Tuesday’s attack, and 386 people wounded. That would total 65,000 deaths of Palestinians since the conflict began in October 2023 when Hamas forces entered Israel, taking hostages and killed an estimated 1,500 people.
