After a hearing a presentation from a spokesperson from a group that claims widespread election fraud and error, the Huntington Beach City Council will consider on Tuesday extending an invitation to the Orange County Registrar of Voters to address the council on voter security.
Mayor Pat Burns and Councilmember Butch Twining are proposing the invitation.
In an “issue statement,” the two wrote that they have “received countless e-mails requesting that the Huntington Beach City Council ask Bob Page, the Orange County Registrar of Voters, to address concerns about voting security in Orange County and Huntington Beach.”
Those topics would include voter identification, election administration and efforts to prevent voter fraud.
At the last council meeting a spokesperson from the Unite4Freedom group addressed the council claiming there were millions of instances of voter fraud and voter error in the 2024 election nationwide.
Huntington Beach voters have voted to require identification from voters and limited the number of “drop-off” voting boxes. The State of California claims that requiring voter ID is a violation of state law and a legal battle has ensued.
The council will meet in a closed session at 4:30 p.m. and a regular meeting at 6 p.m., both at its chambers at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).
