LAA, LAD had slow Sundays

Despite a 2-1 loss to the San Diego Padres on Sunday in Anaheim, the Los Angeles Angels remained in the thick of the race in the American League West Division.

The Halos are 11-12, just one-half game back in the ALW behind the Texas Rangers and Athletics.

The Angels were only able to manage two hits and the one run, driven in by Zach Neto. Michael King (3-1) was responsible for most of that, going five innings yielding just one hit. He struck out six Angels and walked four.

Doing almost as well was Walbert Urena (0-2) for the Angels. He lasted six innings, giving up four hits and two earned runs. He walked two and struck out eight.

DODGERS FALL: In a rare reversal, the Los Angeles Dodgers blew a three-run lead and lost 9-6 to Colorado Rockies in Denver. Both teams had 15 hits, but the Rox had the two biggest: home runs by Kyle Karros and Mickey Moniak.

The Dodgers are now 15-6, a half-game ahead of the Padres (15-7) in the National League West.
