Get fit outdoors at Garden Grove Park

New outdoor fitness equipment is now available at Garden Grove Park, located at 9301 Westminster Avenue. The outdoor fitness area is just south of the Sports and Recreation Center, located at 13641 Deodara Drive.

LogoforNewsBriefsThe outdoor fitness equipment has a total of 15 body mass resistant machines which includes an air walker, cross country ski, leg press, and elliptical cross trainer. Several of the exercise equipment are wheelchair accessible.

Funding for the $64,000 project was provided by Greenfield Outdoor Fitness and the Orange County Partnerships to Improve Community Health (OC-PICH) whose mission is to promote self-sufficiency by mobilizing and directing resources to programs that assist Orange County. For more information, contact the Community Services Department at (714) 741-5200.

Aerospace Foundation kicks off at Air Show

The Aerospace Education Foundation of Huntington Beach will host a kickoff event on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach. The event, presenting by the Boeing Company, is held in conjunction with the inaugural Breitling Huntington Beach Air Show set for Oct. 21-23 near the pier.

There will be silent and live auctions, a buffet dinner, cocktails and a meet-and-greet with select air show performers. Tickets are $100 per person. Table and other sponsorships are available. For more information, call (714) 841-6777 or go to .

Mash it up for Halloween

Garden Grove seniors are invited to attend the Monster Mash Dinner Dance, sponsored by Monarch HealthCare, on Friday, Oct. 21.  The event is scheduled from 6-10 p.m. and will be held at the Community Meeting Center, A Room, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue.

The cost for the event is $10 per person.  Tickets may be purchased at the Senior Center Front Office, located at 11300 Stanford Ave.  Cost includes dinner, photo booth opportunities, and live entertainment provided by “5 Star Band.”
